Research and Planning: Serif Fonts
A serif is a type of font that is essential to use when writing any form of text on paper, this is because that serif fonts are said to be much easier to use. serif fonts are said to be much easier to read because these certain fonts are designed in a certain way so that none of the letters are hard to read by making the letters all look different from each other and by making them available to all functions such as caps lock and being bold. This serif font is used mainly in things like magazines and newspapers.

Research and Planning: double page spread research
I have looked at a few double page spreads and I have found that all of them that are from the same genre as my music magazine seem to all be most of the pages are taken up by a picture of an artist, and they all seem to have an almost basic layout. However on each double page spread the stories are always linked to the picture on the double page spread. I am going to be using these examples to help me come up with my design and story for my double page spread and I can chose whatever I wanted for the story as long as the picture is related to the story.

Research and Planning: SLR Test Shot Review
With the SLR camera I find that when I was outside taking photos the lighting was better and made the pictures much better, however when I was inside I found that the pictures with the flash on came out with better focus but seemed too bright, so all in all, I think I will take my shots for my magazine outside.

Research and planning: Masthead name ideas
I have come with up with three ideas for my music magazines masthead name:
- Blank
- Beat
- Relevant
Research and planning: Audience video interview questions
Here are a selection of questions that will ask my target audience:
- What stories would you expect to see on a magazine of this genre?
- Do you think that the Masthead is relevant?
- Do you think that the shot type on the main images is right for the magazine?
- Is the layout of the front page layout right?
- Does the contents and or front page have enough detail?
- Are the colours relevant to the type of magazine this is?

Research and planning: Music magazine double page spread analysis
The audience to a double page spread of this genre would be mostly teens to early 20 year old's, this is because rap/ hip-hop hasn't be that well known for that long so not as many late 20's + will actually listen to hip-hop unless forced to. I can also see that the artist 'Game' the man on the photo, is quite famous and he obviously is because he takes up most of the room on the double page spread showing he is quite famous in this genre of the magazine. They have done a medium long shot to capture some of the background in the picture to show where he is and follows the stereotype of most rap artists which is that they have grown up in a rough neighborhood. As you can see in the picture that the story is actually about the man in the photo 'Game'. I also know that this magazine has stuck to there three colour rule all along this magazine as I have seen the front cover and they stick to this rule through all the most important sections of the magazine including the contents page.
Research and planning: Music magazine contents page analysis
The genre of this music magazines contents page is hip-hop I can tell this because the fact the man on the contents page "Kanye West" who is dressed quite "fresh" which shows that he is in hip-hop and also the way he is stood and is looking quite mean and relaxed at the same time tells me that he is in hip-hop. I can tell that this contents page is designed to show the audience what the big hip-hop stars look like, such as the smart casual look, with the blank expression on his face to show that he doesn't care what people think. This links to the genre because in hip-hop all the artists have to have this kind of look to show that they don't care what people think about them. On this contents page we have a medium shot of Kanye west which takes up most of one side of the page which shows that he must be famous because not only has he got into one of the biggest hip-hop magazines but he has also got a large photo on this magazine meaning he must be a big artist to the hip-hop audience.

Research and Planning: Fonts
These are the three Masthead design fonts that i have chosen for my music magazine front cover, this is because they are all related to the rap/hip-hop genre of music.
Research and Planning: music magazine analysis
This music magazine is in the rap / hip-hop genre, this is the genre of music my music magazine will be based on, I have noticed that they have used a medium close-up on the front cover, and the cover lines are about the same genre of music and about the man on the cover '50 cent' who s a very well known rap artist, this magazine follows the three colour rule and has a large masthead to show the audience what it is about. This magazine audience would be teenagers from the age of 14-19 and people in there early to mid 20's. The person on the cover is also portrayed to be very menacing and stylish just like what rap is about, and a very expressionless face to show that he really doesn't care what everyone else thinks about him. I can also tell that this music magazines genre is rap/ Hop-hop because of the fact that in big bold writing on the front next to the man on the photo '50 cent' it says "50 CENT: HIP-HOP ICON" which shows that this magazine is definitely a rap/ Hip-hop magazine.

Research and planning: Evaluation for College magazine
I think that the font sizes I have used are the correct size, it's not too big for the page however it's not to small so that you can't read it. I have followed the three colour rule apart from on my front page where I have put the date and issue in a different colour to the rest which also makes it out of the three colour rule. I think that you can tell that the contents page is from the same magazine as the have the same colours as each other and the same font size and style, then they both have the colleges name on them which makes the from the same college, so I think it easy to tell that they are from the same magazine. I believe that the photo's I have taken are appropriate and are reasonably well taken. I believe that I could of added a couple more stories to the contents page and maybe another to the front page, I do believe that they are appropriate to the college magazine.
